Hydrocele Water Hernia in Children
What is hydrocele (water hernia)?
It is the swelling of the scrotum due to the accumulation of peritoneal fluid around the testicle. It occurs in newborns when the peritoneal-vaginal canal remains open.
Symptoms
Painless, soft, identifiable swelling. It may be more noticeable in the morning. If there is pain and redness, different diagnoses are considered.
Treatment
Most of them close spontaneously until the age of 1-2. Surgery (hydrocelectomy) is planned for ongoing or large hydrocele.
