Night urinary incontinence
Involuntary urination during sleep at least once a week in children aged 5 and over is called enuresis nocturna. Family history is common.
Evaluation
Causes such as urine infection, diabetes and constipation are excluded. If there are daytime symptoms, they are evaluated separately.
Approach
Fluid restriction is used in the evening, toilet habits, alarm devices and motivational programs are used. Medication may be added in selected cases.
